What are the advantages ?
You can receive goods without being at home. And if you are at home there's no need to answer the door and be interrupted by a delivery person.
Goods can be delivered anytime, even while you sleep.
You can also return unwanted goods and arrange for the collection of dry cleaning, shoe repairs etc.
There are advantages for the retailer because Homeport reduces the costs of delivery significantly.
Homeport saves the expense of re delivery (when a customer is not at home ) and free from the constraints of exact time slots the deliverer can travel to the nearest house first.

What about security?
Homeport is made of steel and bolted to your outside wall. It cannot be pulled off.
The cables are 14 mm thick flexible steel, designed to withstand the largest industrial wire cutters.
Boxes are aluminium or tough polypropylene plastic encased in stainless steel mesh.
The thickness and strength of the cables and boxes can be further increased for high value items (metal boxes can be supplied for example)
Your delivery can only be opened with your unique chip card.
Even the delivery person cannot re open your Homeport once a delivery has been plugged in.
If you share a Homeport in an apartment block your unique chip card will only release your delivery.

Surely a box outside my house is a sign that I'm not at home?
It is possible that the box is empty, ready for collection and that you are inside your home. You could also be inside with a full box outside that you have yet to collect.

Where can I fit a Homeport - won't it spoil the appearance of my property?
Homeport has been designed to look as unobtrusive as possible and is much the same size as a video entry phone or intercom panel.
You can print out an exact sized picture of a Homeport and place it on your outside wall to see what it will look like. Actual size photo
Although we recommend close proximity to your front door a Homeport can be fitted virtually anywhere outside, depending on what suits you.
Boxes and cables are delivered and collected each time to eliminate the clutter of a permanent box.

What about installing Homeport in a house where there are several apartments?
This is possible because several people can share a single Homeport.
Each apartment will be given a unique chip card which can only access their delivery. Homeport has 3 port holes to allow 3 simultaneous deliveries.
We also plan to introduce a Homeport with 5 port holes.
If a delivery is very large it can be distributed amongst several boxes, secured by one cable and plugged into one port hole.

Do I need planning permission to install a Homeport?
No, planning permission is not required. However, if you are renting or leasing a property or live in a listed building it may be prudent to seek permission from the landlord or the council.

What goods can I have delivered via Homeport ?
Almost anything is deliverable from food to electrical goods to clothes. Frozen food is also possible with insulated boxes that can keep frozen food at stable temperatures for at least 12 hours. Large orders can be packed into three boxes stacked vertically.
